About the Position: Patient Behavior Management: Performs various duties in handling difficult patient management problems, uses extensive professional knowledge of dentistry, possesses knowledge and exceptional skill in diagnosing and treating very difficult cases involving special patient behavioral and management problems; possesses thorough understanding and knowledge of the relationships and applications of the basic sciences. When necessary, consults with and refers patients as needed to experts equipped to deal with such cases. Orders appropriate tests as needed prior to referral. Teaching/Mentoring: Performs various duties mentoring and training less experienced general dentists and dental ancillaries. At selected sites designed for post graduate-level residency training, they will be involved in teaching and training dental residents in various specialty programs commensurate with their training and credentialed privileges.

Major Duties:
Corrective and Restorative Measures; Performs a full range of professional dental tasks of a general dentistry nature including treatment of commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problems requiring standard corrective, restorative or preventive measures such as single and multiple teeth extractions, restoration of simple and compound cavities with standard and prescribed material, taking mouth impressions for crowns, jackets, dentures and bridges and fitting and inserting the finished appliances. Preventive Measures; Performs various preventive measures, using extensive professional knowledge of dentistry; knowledge and skill to diagnose and treat very difficult cases; thorough understanding and knowledge of the relationships and applications of the basic sciences; and exceptional skill in handling patients with behavioral problems. Conducts extensive prophylaxis treatment. Performs deep scaling and root planning. Additional Duties listed below.

Basic Requirements:
# Licensure:Must be currently licensed to practice dentistry in a State, DC, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the U.S.A. Please list the type of licensure you possess and from where it was obtained. Failure to do so will result in non-consideration of your reusme.
# Education:Degree in Dental Surgery (DDS) or Dental Medicine (DMD) from a school approved by the Council on Dental Education, American Dental Association (ADA); or other dental school, provided the education and knowledge acquired was substantially equivalent to that of graduates from an ADA-approved school.
Requirements in addition to the Basic Requirements: Experience and/or training must be one of the following types: Post-licensure professional experience in the general practice of dentistry; Approved internship training; Approved residency training; Graduate-level study in an accredited dental school; Post-licensure professional experience in a specialized area of practice; Other advanced study or training (outside a dental school or hospital) creditable towards satisfaction of training program requirements for Board eligibility.
Specialized Experience: Two years of professional dentistry experience and/or training; or superior academic ability defined as that demonstrated by an intern, who on the basis of an evaluation of all interns who have completed training in the same hospital or in the same kind of internship program over the past 5 years, would fall into the upper half of the group.For further information regarding qualifications Click Here
